I was reading Amanda’s reflection of week two of the EDC3100 course. I have to admit that this course still terrifies me, even though I consider myself fairly capable of using most technology pretty easily. I look back over the past couple of weeks and I realised that I too have learned a great deal. I think we get comfortable with what we know and then we are challenged to look beyond that and even the things we think we are fully competent at, can still challenge us.
The part of blogging had me in a bit of a panic until I was talking to our tech guy from work this week, I mentioned that blogging was scary. The part that got me was that he didn’t know why it bothered me when I was “generally speaking” opinionated, in a good way he said, meaning that I like to give my opinion in things that matter to me. Apparently this is the best and biggest audience I can have and I can be free to have my say. This also makes me more determined in my quest to find our non-verbal students a vehicle to their communication needs.
